Special education services

Special education is the practice of educating students with special educational needs to achieve the highest level of personal self-sufficiency and success in school and their community. Common special needs include learning disabilities, communication disorders, emotional and behavioural disorders, physical disabilities, and developmental disabilities.

Special education can include a range of support services, depending on the special needs of the student. Support services may involve physical assistance and therapy, counselling and psychotherapy, modified learning environments and assistive learning devices, educational and psychological assessments and behavioural modification techniques.
